How a society forms
Nobody is in charge. There is fire, food, a vote, and people who remember. Every day the island decides a little more about what kind of place it is going to be.
-
Camp
Grow a quality, then play two cards: bonds, rumours, bluffs, trades, or a hunt for the Secret Shield. Order is built one favour at a time, and so is resentment.
-
The War Zone
Strength and dice. Before the Union the winning camp takes Camp Safety and sleeps easy; after it, one castaway takes the Personal Shield.
-
The Mela
The gathering at the fire. Everyone writes a name. Secret Shields come out, if anyone has one. Then the count, and the island casts someone out.
-
Night
Choose who you sleep next to. Bonds deepen in the dark, whispers travel, and somebody always notices who went where.
- The Union. Two camps become one society, and every promise made before is suddenly tested.
- The final fire. The last castaways make their case, and the coins they earned along the way come into play.
- Judgement Day. Everyone the island cast out comes back as a ghost, and the ghosts choose who is left at the fire.
Why it feels alive
-
Rivals with hidden personalities
Legends arrive with public reputations you can read up on. Islanders are dealt fresh every season, so you learn them the hard way. Meet them all.
-
Memory that depends on difficulty
Go easy and your rivals forgive quickly. Go hard and they remember every slight, every broken bond, every name you wrote.
-
A threat thermometer
See how hot your name is running at camp, and cool it down before the Mela, or make sure someone else's is hotter.
-
Offers and trades where anyone may lie
Deals, trades and promises come at you all day. Some are real. Some are bait. You find out at the fire.
-
Blindsides from your own side
Your closest ally has a thermometer too, and tonight your name might be the one that keeps them safe.
-
A career across seasons
Your record carries forward: your moves, your betrayals, the societies you held together and the ones you broke. The island remembers how you played.

About the maker
I'm Yauvan, an artist and creator obsessed with two things: social deduction games and reality television. Both are about the same question. Put strangers together, give them something to lose, and watch who they become.
Isle of Human is my answer to that question as a game you can play alone: an island of animals that has to build a society from nothing, rivals who remember every slight, and a vote every night. It is free, with no ads and no purchases, because I made it for the love of it.
Under the hood it plays hundreds of simulated seasons for every setting, so it quietly learns how alliances form, when shields flip a night, and how often a blindside comes from your own side. If that data is useful to anyone building something in the same spirit, write to me.
If you really want to get in my head
I have had two loves for as long as I can remember: social deduction games and reality television. People treat them as different hobbies. They are the same thing. Take away comfort, add a vote, and watch what people become.
I wanted to hold that in my hands. Not watch it, not wait for a night when enough friends were free, but play it alone against a cast that remembers what I did yesterday. The animals began as an instinct and turned into the whole idea. An animal does not lie. It does not form a bloc, or carry a grudge to the fire, or write a name. The moment one does, it has become human. So the island is a machine for turning animals into people, and it is working on you too, while you try not to notice.
Golding put boys on an island and took the grown-ups away. I put animals on one and took the rules away. The island is called the Isle of Human. Singular, on purpose. It is not an island of humans; it is an island of the human, the condition you catch there. Nobody arrives with it, and nobody leaves without it.
It is free because it is a piece of love in the form of a game. I made it the way you would make a painting for someone: no ads, no purchases, nothing to unlock. The hand-drawn animals, the host's voice, the night scene and the thousands of simulated seasons behind every number are the brushwork.
What I hope you feel is one moment. You are at the fire, the names are being read, and the one you trusted most has written yours. Not anger. Recognition. That is the human part.
